El implante de una TAVI por vía transfemoral se ha convertido en el tratamiento de elección de los pacientes mayores con estenosis aórtica severa y de aquellos con alto riesgo quirúrgico.
Sin embargo, la evidencia acumulada en los últimos años ha demostrado su eficacia también en pacientes de bajo riesgo. Esto ha llevado a que las Guías de Práctica Clínica de la Sociedad Europea de Cardiología hayan puesto el límite dicotómico en 75 años para recomendar a los pacientes el tratamiento percutáneo frente al quirúrgico.
¿Pero dónde está el límite real de la TAVI? ¿Hasta dónde podemos llegar? ¿Qué perfil de pacientes se pueden beneficiar más del tratamiento percutáneo y cuáles del quirúrgico?
